BUDGET GUIDE

There is no standard system when it comes to wedding florals. Every wedding is different and there are many variables that will affect how we quote. This is why we give personalised quotes based on your wedding inquiry form and inspo pictures sent through. We understand that weddings are a huge financial investment and the planning can be rather overwhelming as each vendor has their own unique process. We aim to provide our clients with clarity and transparency around pricing and budget.

When you are sourcing for your wedding florist, you will realise that quotes can vary a lot between different wedding florist. Here’s why: We are working in the creative industry and the value that each floral designer places on their work would vary across multiple factors. It’s honestly no different to being an artist or a fashion designer. A more luxury brand with more experienced designers using quality materials and customised services would cost more than another designer who does not offer those services.

Here are some factors where the value will differ between each wedding florist and how we quote:

  • Experience: Someone who is just starting might charge lower as they aim to gain experience, verses someone who has years of experience in the industry.

  • Labour rates & Logistics: Every individual values their time differently which affects how they charge you for their time working on designing your wedding. Each florist might also perceive the operations and logistics of how your wedding day to go differently and have different plans and approach.

  • Design Style: What each florist see that is needed to calculate your wedding florals quote will differ. When a florist looks at an inspo picture, the choice of flowers used, mechanics needed, quality and quantity of flowers needed, we all see it differently. This can vary more significantly when it comes to bigger designs.

  • Markup: How much profit someone decides to put on their business will vary. There are some businesses out there that undercharge with very low markup, making their business unsustainable in the long run.

So… why are wedding flowers way more expensive than you thought they’d be? Here’s why:

  • Luxury service: Wedding florist provide a service that is technically not needed for you to get married. Flowers are a want not a need.

  • High wholesale costs: Thank you inflation and freight challenges with the impact of COVID. Also the reality is that it cost more to bring in items to Perth than say Sydney. It’s what we get for being one of the most isolated cities.

  • Import costs: A lot of the flowers you see on Pinterest are imported from countries like Kenya, Japan…

  • Weather Conditions: Can affect the supply of flowers

  • It’s more work than you think: The floral selection process is not like going to Coles and adding things in your cart. We consider your wedding colour theme, style and preferences all having to work with mother nature and the availability of the flowers we want to use for your wedding. The effort put into this is very different from a local florist who pre designs bouquets and wrap them for you (having limited control of the bouquet) to bring home.

  • It’s more than flowers: Planning starts months ahead. It’s not just about designing your flower arrangements on the day of your wedding. A lot of planning goes into working out the operations and logistics, time spent on emails and working with wholesalers, processing and preparing your flowers (all those leaves and thorns don’t just magically disappear), cleaning buckets and sorting out all the organic waste… and so much more that happens behind the scenes.

BUDGET TIPS

  1. Be open to us about your budget so that we can help you make the best informed decision. We are here to help you and support you in your planning and so willing to give you guidance on how to make the most of your budget. Be flexible with your floral “wishlist”. Ask us to recommend what elements to include or cut based on your budget to create the best possible visual experience for your special day.

  2. Invest in a few impactful arrangements and don’t worry about the rest. Focus on statement arrangements rather than small ones across the space. For example, one impactful ground installation down the ceremony aisle that can be reused for the dance floor at your reception rather than small arrangements around the space. Impactful arrangements not only would look amazing in your wedding photos but will also create an immersive experience for you and your guest who will be taking lots of photos and tagging you in it.

Here are some of the elements we suggest to invest in
: Ceremony Installation (choose a design you can reuse for your reception)
    : Aisle Flowers
: Luxe Bridal Bouquet (You’ll be carrying this with you for most of the day)
: Full Bridal Table arrangement (The focal point of the evening besides the dance floor)

And these are some of the elements we think is not a great use of your budget.
: Buttonholes (the gents are going to take their jackets off anyway and the buttonholes always get squashed from hugs)
: Welcome Sign/Seat Chart (They will be looked at only once or twice before your guests move on to get seated)
: Bar Area (Guest will be getting a drink, chatting with people around rather than soaking up the flowers)
    : Signing table flowers
    : Cake flowers

  3. Here’s what will affect your wedding floral budget
: Wedding size (number of guest and bridal party; more bridesmaid the more bouquets needed)
: Style and type of flowers (Are your designs floral heavy? Do you want expensive flower varieties?)
: Complexity of your design (Does it take more time, labour and logistics?)
: Number of items and elements

  4. Remember that
: You don’t need to know everything, ask us all the questions and we can guide you
: Every florist is going to give you a very different quote so instead of price shopping, trust your gut and go with the florist whose style you love the most and communicates/works well with you
